We should bring back downvotes

yeah removing a simple and harmless way to disagree with others is just blatantly stupid at best. the very reason a lot of threads are locked is because people can't keep their mouths shut and start arguments without thinking before they act

Finally! Somebody else who agrees this whole fiasco was unnecessary. Downvotes need to come back. You can't have one but remove the other. Either keep both, or remove both. A function should not be removed just because a few bad apples weren't responsible with it.

exactly, and it's funny how following the same thought process they used as an excuse to remove downvotes, you could very well upvote an user's post to make their reputation skyrocket (especially considering, you know, the upvote limit is way higher than downvotes, which if i'm not mistaken is 50 per day), but nobody talks about that.

instead, let's label someone getting up to the 5-downvote limit, which is TEN TIMES SMALLER, as "downvote abuse" and remove the only peaceful way of disagreeing with users. how brilliant!

if someone is truly being downvote bombed on this forum and they have not done anything and people are like, down voting them because they are gay or something like that, (highly unlikely given our userbase being woke LGBTQ teenagers ) I feel like that's a separate moderation issue aside from "o0o0o0opppp~ looks like this person is getting a bunch of downvotes" and is more of a hateful discrimination issue like if someone called someone else a slur under a post.

I think there's not any real argument to not adding them back but one of sheer laziness and stupidity tbh.

being offended because someone has the potential to remove a measly 5 internet points from your account per day is just stupid to me, especially for people that already have over a hundred rep in total. everybody get your shit together

We need downvotes back to even out the upvotes, obviously if there are people that are downvoting you randomly we need to ask why, downvotes has not been a problem because its either agree or disagree
