@KiwiFarmsArkavel rep is basically the same as upvoting, (duh) but before there used to be categories that gave you a badge on your profile where it said your rank. Sadly, this was removed during an update not too long ago. Ooh- and before it was used to assess how much privilege you had in forums and whether you could chat. ^^

@I_eat_sharpie it was worse before there was a post queue where all of your posts had to be reviewed by a moderator before you could post. Once you hit like 50 rep or smth only THEN you could freely do stuff
