i looked up gold fish on youtube to watch goldfish shorts with my grandma bc she used to have a pet goldfish and i think fish are cute and most of it was blatant animal abuse, one dude was feeding a fancy oranda, which is bred to be a pet, to a snapping turtle, but bc its a oranda it was too big for it to eat so it was just hurting it for no reason
and alot of big youtubers will buy fish for like a vid but wont take care of the fish well at all and it was implied that it died at the end of one vid (prolly bc of how they were treating it bc goldfish are pretty hardy) and it made me kinda sad like i get theyre JUST fish but why do people enjoy harming living things period?? and me personally i think fish are cute and love my pet fish so its just weird to me to see content like this, i just wanted to watch wholesome fish videos with my grandma....
tiktok is especially disturbing and i saw a terrible video abt smth that happened to a human kid ad me and my bf have seen many disturbing videos of ppl doing stuff to fish
i dont get why social media has become such a like disturbing place TvT -
wow we need more ppl involved thats actually rlly sad i saw this cafe that held baby lions in a glass cage and the poor lions keep pacing in circles the i remember the one women who was streaming and her puppy kept coming out his cage the she threw him on the bed and hit the poor thing i remember when ppl where talking about it....

This is very true. Hamsters are also a good example, I saw my niece watching a "Funny hamster compalation" and It's jus hamsters in stressful situations and getting hurt.

also ive noticed that alot of ppl who cant even take care of themselves get pets especially in the hood theres so many cats and dogs just in the streets, idk whats up with poor people owning pets (like my bio dad getting a whole dog when he cant even give me 20$????) the pet industry in general is just so bad and alot of ppl shouldn't have pets and alot of pets are marketed as being easier to take care of then they rlly are:/

@itscookiebear omg i went to a fish store and one tank was FILLED with dead fish on the ground and stuck in the filter is was so disgusting, and we had to ask a worker to do smth but how tf did they miss a tank with atleast 50 dead fish???

buying pets from small businesses is definitely the way to go, i got my betta at school of fish and he was kept in a tank with other fish instead of a cup at the store and so was another betta they had, now i have him in a tank with other fish and he doesnt attack them or anything, so i have a theory that some bettas are aggressive not only bc of genes but how theyre isolated in small stressful cups at the stores (i could be wrong tho)

i saw a vid on tiktok and the label was 'hes acting like he broke his arm or smth' but then the kid ACTUALLY broke his arm falling and they showed it and it was so weird bc it had a bunch of likes. who tf would post that, let alone joke abt it and how could ppl find it funny? i was so disgusted

I once won this goldfish from a hook-a-duck game at this carnival type thing, and I remember the horrible big, white lump it had on the side of it's face. I still don't know what it was, but it died like a week later. I don't understand how people can abuse fish and get away with it
