this is kinda just a yap post bc ive been wanting to talk abt a few things for awhile

theres these dolls that are popular in china called Natasha dolls i believe, their basically ugly baby stress toys
but the most popular natasha dolls are...black.... as in resemble black babies, and theres so many videos of ppl torturing them, its disgusting

the reason the black dolls are so popular according to the many people engaging with them, is because 'they're less human' then the pale skinned ones, and torturing those ones is no fun because they feel like real babies.

one post i saw explained why the black dolls are more popular because china is very classist, and the people cant blame their government, and they associate whiteness with money, but black ppl are associated with being poor, so theyre people to be stepped on, atleast in the eyes of that culture.

This is ironic bc its exactly what started racism in America... poor white people were mad that theyre poor, rich white ppl made them hate black ppl instead of the rich and powerful who were actually to blame. They created a scapegoat. Gave them something to torture so the felt more powerful then they actually were.

Racism never left, its just rebranding.

i saw a video of someone opening a bunch of natasha doll blind boxes and the man got upset bc he kept getting mainly white dolls... and then ppl in the comments we talking abt how the video isnt [censored] (nothing [censored] abt torturing black babies!)

im sorry but if black people started making videos of them torturing asian looking dolls, there would be an outrage.

anyways a little black toddler was hit by a train and killed where i live recently, and me and my mom saw a small black baby walking by himself and he almost walked into the rode while a motorcycle went by, me and her were literally yelling trying to find his parents
its just so sad to think that people find harm done to black children funny...

on top of all this, the man who chased, hunted, shot and murdered cyrus carmack (because he thought he stole a bottle of water, which he didnt) is still yet to be punished. and people are glad about it. People think that the man who killed a 14 year old mixed boy because he supposedly stole a bottle of water (which security footage reveals he didnt steal a thing) and CHASED him over 100 yards to shoot him in the back, is a victim.

the natasha doll may just be dolls, but they reflect how people really see black people.

this post is just me ranting bc i was rlly sad abt all this and just wanted to vent my frustration:/

i think it would be rlly cute if there was a trend of taking care of natasha dolls and dressing them up cutely bc they actually are rlly cute, its the context abt them that makes them disgusting:(

@Yanderemenhera people just dont care, alot of black characters and depictions of black ppl are just people practicing preformative progressiveness and i feel like its worse then blatantly [censored] art TvT for me personally its rlly obvious when a character was actually made with intent to represent and when its just someones token character or their just now learning how to draw poc

im convinced most artist dont care abt the cultures the depict and never have:/

i know im making it sound OD but drawing ppl of any background genuinely isnt that hard TvT just be MILDLY culturally aware and aware of their physical traits/differences and treat them like normal people, they should be a genuine character before they are their race (if that makes sense)

oki yall i know this sounds silly but hear me out TvT

this yap sess is inspired by two things i saw randomly today

1. a post abt a women complaining that a back baby doll having exaggerated lips and a big nose
2. someone redrawing [censored] art and ppl saying the original wasnt [censored]

oki so ima get to my 3 points

• all babies lowkey look the same: as a person who was once a black baby and has seen many black babies irl and online, most black baby noses and even lips are no different then white baby noses! in fact most babies have what i call a lil buttom nose and the more unique shape only starts appearing way later (for me i had the lil button until i was 4-5!)

• giving black babies long hair isnt the progressive move ppl think it is so in the art that was redrawn, both babies had short hair, as babies do, but the person redrew the black girl with longer hair... this isnt rlly cool, most babies have short hair, ESPECIALLY coily haired babies bc we have HELLA shrinkage, this drawing had this baby with a perfect afro puff... my hair is to my shoulders straight and i cant do a perfect afro puff without braiding the back, while everyones hair is different, most babies dont have long hair and your not ACTUALLY representing what black babies rlly look like when u draw them this way.

• Dark skin ppl dont have naturally bright red lips!!! alot of ppl didnt get why the original art was [censored], one thing was the lips. peoples lips are usually are close to their skintone, a rlly dark person would NEVER have rlly bright red lips unless theyre wearing lipstick, which babies... dont wear TvT ive seen other vids off ppl redrawing [censored] art and giving characters bright red lips, just remember that dark skin ppl's lips dont look like that unless they're wearing make-up!

so yeah, here are basically 3 things for the local artist on here to be aware of when drawing baby/young black characters! feel free to let me know if theres anything i need to clarify!

@illegally i take it back, MVP shouldnt get their own trophy bc the surrounding players are the reason th MVP could be the MVP if that makes sense

@seal ok im glad im not the only one who couldn't get into it, i dont get why its so popular lol

so ive heard of it but all i rlly knew was that it has 3 black characters which is cool but not enough for me to care abt it, and i saw some copies of it at barns n nobles but the cover art was so ugly it just made me less interested in it. i also knew was that its popular rlly and abt one characters backstory but besides that i was pretty clueless lol

anyways my dad mailed me volume one and i had finished skimming through the final vol of jjk that he sent me (which i think is buns and having the manga only comfirmed that the series is just not for me at all) when i checked out the gachiakuta one and i actually enjoyed it! i read the whole volume in one sitting just now, im thinking of watching the anime and reading the manga at the same time, i had no idea it was abt like items and stuff. the art is good but im not a fan of the style but the style fits the story and is genuinely unique so i dont mind

i do think some of the dialogue is rlly corny but its not that bad, i think i just find edgy dialogue corny no matter what TvT

i hope the series doesnt have too many volumes bc i want to collect them all if the story stays good

@freedom-fries we were mixed bc it has nice art and a good soundtrack but he said the plot is bs, we did come to the agreement that your taste is certainly bizarre...

As a person of color who loves anime, I really appreciate when a anime features a genuinely good character of color! I know a lot of people probably don't care, but for those who do, who's your favorite ethnic anime character? (doesn't have to be black specifically)
