this isn't ment to be negative, but this site feels a lot different than it used to when i joined. i think it might be bc the post quee is gone and downvotes don't exist. it feels more unfiltered and more active bc people can post whenever they want without needing to wait 6 hours to get a reply to a post saying "hi" approved, and bc you don't need rep to to message anymore you can start chatting right away wich is nice. i Like this site more now tbh. but thats just me. how do you guys feel?

a lot of drama has happenedhere a lot lightly, i think we need to remember that people on here are real and your words matter. you never know what you could say that might hurt someone deaply, plus, you could get muted. or banned. we also should remember the same thing goes for moderators and administrators, they are human beings too guys. derailing threads being mean to others isn't ok. if you don't like someone, just block them instead of starting something. this site isn't ment to be like X. we should strive to follow the rules and be nicer to eachother.

I honestly don't get the beef tbh, now I will admit I have seen some people take things way too far or become parasocial to a disturbing degree but I think a lot of people ship themselves with fictional characters and it's only now people see it as a big deal now that we have a name for it. I wrote a detailed fantasy about salad fingers for example in a discord server, I wouldn't consider myself a yumeshipper I just like salad fingers. I think for as long as we've had fiction we've had people having romantic/familiar/platonic fantasy's with fictional people/things. I think most people have done this in one form or another, like oml, do we remember waifus and husbandos? I think this is just a newer name for something that's likely existed for as long as fiction has. maybe someone back in the victorian era read dracula and imagined mina as their wife. I only feel like this becomes an issue in cases of extreme obsession over a fictional person/thing and it has happened with things like MLP for example or slightly annoying when younger kids get online and fight with each other over who ginu from k-pop demon hunters would love more tbh or like, the age thing. I genuinely think people are willing to whine about anything these days tbh knowing damn well they do it too, just without using a term for it.

I talked about this breefly in an annoucment post for staff applications, but a lot of people online (not even just on here) don't know how to do things like spell simple words, form a sentence let ALONE a paragraph, or what letter sound like (like, how to sound out letters. i.e. g makes a ''guh'' sound). my issue isn't with occasional typos, auto-correct changing words in a sentence, improper caps in informal posts or no periods at the end of a sentence, or shorthand like gtg, fml, pmo, idk and so on and so forth. I use shorthand, I don't punctuate my sentences all the time, and I don't normally use proper caps unless i'm doing a formal/professional post and i'm human, I make typos like spelling errors and my auto-correct doesn't usually work, but when it does, it always messes up what I wrote by changing my words after i've written them as it is likely AI that doesn't understand context. but what upsets me is when I get DMs of people who need my help and I cannot read it. I get DMs like "yu r hut ei wnna dade yu" or " u dum as uld eve his abb nw an u r een nd mi hete u" and it takes me a long time to decifer the meaning of them. some people who send me messages are legal adults too (as in, 18+) and sure, they could be little kids lying about their age, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were in fact, young adults. and you know what? i do not give a flying [censored] about wether or not public school failed them, and sure I do pitty them, but I was what would be considored ''unschooled". I taught myself to read. I taught myself everything. I had no teacher. if you are a grown adult you need to just teach yourself. put in the effort and learn. if a 7 year old me figured it out, a grown adult with even just a switch and an internet connection can. there's lots and lots of online resources to choose from. hell, even just YouTube access can help. if you can't read or spell, even if you're an adult there's no excuse, you need to learn how to read and write, chat gpt can write your loved one's text messages you can send, and you can have it read the response to you, but is it really the same? it's not. and i'll do some research later to post a post with lots of links to resources to help people learn how to read and write. remember, it's never too late to learn and there will come a day when you'll need to read and write.
