Yumeshippers Are Weird. (Opinion)

Oh yeah, and before you say, "well the rpf yume-" a few bad apples don't ruin the whole bunch. yumeshipping is rooted in fandom culture, and as long as there is fandom, yumeshipping will too. it'll live longer than fandom too, most likely

Not all non-sharing yumes harass their doubles, and some people who Yumeship do it due to them being AroAce, or as a way to comfort themself, as medical help is expensive.
Yumeshippers KNOW their f/o isn't real. It's literally part of the term f/o (Fictional other) And if they pass that barrier of the character being fictional, THEN it's more suggested to get SOME sort of help, of any degree.
Of COURSE People's F/o doesn't know the Yumeshipper exists, it's a FICTIONAL-[censored]-CHARACTER. The only exception to that would be if the yumeshipper was FEATURED in that Character's media., Which doesn't happen often. (Example, The Allan Yumeshipper who was featured as his muse in one of the final episodes of smiling friends)
Yumeshippers KNOW Their ship isn't canon unless it is PHYSICALLY SHOWN/INTERPRETED IN THEIR F/O'S MEDIA.
People who yumeship with Monika from DDLC for example, WOULD BE CANON, as she Isn't in love with the MC as a CHARACTER, but with the person CONTROLLING the MC, aka, the player. (Same thing goes with any Character that you can ACTIVELY INTERACT WITH, WHO ALSO BREAKS THE FOURTH WALL.)
Also, So many people have made this argument, all using the same reasons you did. If you're going to say something, make different arguments and actually do research on the topic.

this "opinion" oddly felt strange.. but ig im neutral idm if someone is or isnt, imo... everyone needs to shush about "but, this and that" and realise, a yumeshipper is them... not you, why should it matter... they are happy, they are them... so let people be themselves
edit: from what ive learned.. they do it for comfort.. its not like they hurt you in any way, i think that posts like this feel like its just trying to damage those people. ill personally support those who do, because they need comfort, a good friend... it feel like if someone says "i dont like anyone who likes anime, because i dont like anime" but you miss out on the friends who like anime.. but are nice people.. this is my input

There's a buncha reasons why i think yumeshipping is weird. For one, it's EXTREMELY parasocial. No, your "f/o" does not know you exist, your ship is not valid. cry abt it. Second, I find it weird that you'd care for a fictional character that mind you; ISNT EVEN REAL more than an ACTUAL human being with REAL emotions and thoughts. There's a bunch of other options, you can online date or date somebody in person. Why on earth would you date a fictional character? Also, the non sharing yumeshippers are weird, why are you going out of your way to harrass somebody who is just as weird as you who likes the same character as you? This is just what i think.

(MY OPINION), if i was dating you and u were shipping urself w a fictional character or like anyone in general i would find it weird (i mean as long as they’re putting effort to the relationship them were good) but if ur deadass putting like all ur time on the oc then were done bc at that point ur just basically dating no one -

I mean, I'm not in a relationship with a yumeshipper myself, but I'm a yume and have friends who are in relationships with yumes themselves, and yadda yadda.. I think a common misconception is that a yumeshipper doesn't ACTUALLY believe or think they're dating a character. It's moreso just a label to to represent your deep love and connection for a character and isn't supposed to be used as a substitute for a real, romantic relationship. This is generally how yumeshippers go about things, and as for the small part of the community that actually does believe theyre dating a fictional character are just mentally ill, but it's not as common as you think it is.
If someone is spending a majority of the time on their yumeship and hyperfixating on it, then it becomes an issue. But once again, yumeshipping is sorta like a hobby for fun and shouldn't be taken seriously, and most really don't.
