In all honesty, Yumeshipping itself isn't bad.
I see a lot of Yumeshippers, I don't really mind it. I get where the hate is coming from, but I'm not going to go out of my way to attack them. I do find the 'non-sharing' aspect a little strange, though if someone came up to me and said we were dating the same partner, I get it! I also find the crafts and drawings some Yumeshippers make with/for their f/o adorable.
My only concern is age. I see people Yumeshipping with characters that could be their parents? Along with teens Yumeshipping with child characters. I don't understand that part...

It could be trama related
Ex: someone young w/ someone old
or a kin-thing
Ex: being 007n7 & yumeshipping with noli.
Uhh thats all I got sosorry -

Sigh. I'm getting tired of writing paragraphs.
People can yumeship familially and non-romantically (friends, enemies yadda yadda)
And if someone IS yumeshipping romantically with someone who would be older than them (such as i) it's quite common for them to age up their sona until they are old enough to draw themself with that character, and not their sona with that character.
however, lets say a twenty-one year old is yumeshipping with a.. i dunno.. sixteen year old character. thats where the problem starts. If you age up the character to yumeship with them, personally, i find that okay as long as the character originally isn't like, ten or something, but some people may have a problem with it.
now, lets talk about aging down your sona to yumeship. If it's familial, It's probably not a problem. if it's romantic, then It's starting to get weird.
though, this is an opinion, and you make valid points here, and it looks like you've done some basic research, so i will applaud you on that. -
yar har fiddle dee let me add in me two cents dee.
actually its just everything Ch3si said. yeah. ok.
as a yumeshipper myself i think its fun. steamhappy emoji. -
I honestly don't get the beef tbh, now I will admit I have seen some people take things way too far or become parasocial to a disturbing degree but I think a lot of people ship themselves with fictional characters and it's only now people see it as a big deal now that we have a name for it. I wrote a detailed fantasy about salad fingers for example in a discord server, I wouldn't consider myself a yumeshipper I just like salad fingers. I think for as long as we've had fiction we've had people having romantic/familiar/platonic fantasy's with fictional people/things. I think most people have done this in one form or another, like oml, do we remember waifus and husbandos? I think this is just a newer name for something that's likely existed for as long as fiction has. maybe someone back in the victorian era read dracula and imagined mina as their wife. I only feel like this becomes an issue in cases of extreme obsession over a fictional person/thing and it has happened with things like MLP for example or slightly annoying when younger kids get online and fight with each other over who ginu from k-pop demon hunters would love more tbh or like, the age thing. I genuinely think people are willing to whine about anything these days tbh knowing damn well they do it too, just without using a term for it.

honestly, idk if i'm just more open-mined on certain things but I genuinely think this yummieshipper hate is kinda dumb even as someone who's seen some of the stupid shit and down right disturbing side to it, I just believe that getting mad at this of all things is stupid, like there's better things to get mad at let alone something most people do but laungue evolved to give it a name

OOHH, that makes a lot more sense. When I see YumeSHIPPING, I just assume it's always romantic. Though actually, relationSHIPS don't always mean romance anyways, so that's a mistake on my part.Aging up sonas/characters also eases my concern with the romantic age differences. Thank you!! This information really helps.
