Genuinely, how are some of you STILL motivated to draw?!

Like, all I draw are femboys/twinks/yaoi, yuri, and Mpreg. HOW IN THE UNHOLY FXCK ARE SOME OF YOU DRAWING MUSEUM WORTHY PIECES LIKE IT'S NOTHING AND GOING ON WITH YOUR DAY WHILE I'M STILL CONTEMPLATING MY OCS DESIGN?! HOW CAN ONE BE MOTIVATED TO THE POINT THEY CAN ANIMATE ON A PHONE?! HOW ARE SOME OF YOU STICKING TO ONE DESIGN CHOICE?! AM I INDECISIVE AND UNCREATIVE?! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO MY IMAGINATION?!

I like draw without thinking and use my wits, it was hard thinking for the right art style for me but I got it through, btw if ur stuck you should try tutorials! Or refs

@Lucifer-s-Love I honestly have no idea atp. I loved my old sketchbook and looking back at my previous drawings while listening to music and going over references on pinterest would motivate me to add to my collection of drawings. I really miss it. It isn't replaceable.

@Lucifer-s-Love I personally don't know, maybe I do it because I enjoy it or because it'll be a future j*b?
ik my stuff isn't that good but ik for me I don't really do "OC's" per say, but I do have a girl I draw regularly that i've been drawing since I was 14 or 15 (17 now) and her design hasn't changed tbh, her design is consistent and I designed her to be easy to animate, only thing I'll change is outfits and wing size.
my advice is to come up with a simple design you can easily memorize and redraw.
i'll use my girl as an example:
she doesn't really have an "age" per say ,or any "lore", but she is physically around 12-14

she has short, peach colored pigtails and an ahoge (basically a little cow lick at the top of her head)

she has red eyes with an "x" shaped highlight/pupil, but typically i'll give her an eye patch with a yammie kawwie heart or a cartoony dead rabbit.

she is usually wearing a big shirt with very long sleeves and a massive bow, usually a sailor suit but it depends.

she is wearing a shortish skirt (above the knee) with a visable pair of black shorts with a stripe going up the leg, (since she was designed with animation in mind, and her age as well, she needs shorts. I don't wanna either be unable to anime some things like wind, falling, ect. or animate her skirt in an unrealistic way where it's not flowy at all. I wanna keep her modest, I don't want to animate weird stuff) she has no shoes typically and she wears long socks.

she has a collar with a yellow round tag with her name, her name is pet.

she has angle wings and a halo, those do change is size/detail depending on how I'm drawing her.

she has white rabbit ears, and a massive bushy cotton tail.

try to come up with a list of easily repeatable features you can keep consistent and try to keep in mind what the character/OC is for, pet was intended to be animated for example so her design is simple and has some features to it for animation like shorts, a simple outfit, and some cool stuff so she's not too boring but still easy to draw a lot of, like if i'm doing a 16fps animation with her, her design isn't way too detailed it's difficult to animate.

and if you lack motivation in general, and not just for art, try to get that sorted out before tryna draw because you won't be able to draw until you address the root issue.

@Lucifer-s-Love my list of traits/features technique are based on me personally not like, having a "mind's eye" so to speak, idk how useful it is if you do have a mind's eye.

uhm, to modivate yourself in general, I think a good physical state helps a good mental state so most of my advice is based on that.

make sure you are well-rested, the amount of sleep in order to feel good vares between person to person, but for most it's like 8-12 hours.

you haven't recently been scrolling YouTube shorts, tic Tok, ect. so you aren't destracted

if you have medicine you need to take, take it. doesn't matter if it's just something like an iron pill for anemia, medication vs. no medication can make a big difference

if you're prone to forgetting to eat, try to have an alarm to remind you to. blood sugar tends to drop after like, 12 hours and even if you're not diabetic it's still a good idea to not like, forget to eat. that will kill your motivation to do anything and it can make you feel dizzy or just generally sick.

stay hydrated, if you're prone to not wanting to drink water, try things like drink mix or seltzure water.

keep a diary to vent into or talk to someone you trust about emotional stuff like if you get bad anxiety or you feel depressed, venting to a book or to a friend might help.

try to be kind to yourself, even if you don't draw today, or you can't keep a consistent OC design you shouldn't beat yourself up over it. nobody is perfect and everyone else has their issues and struggles and it's kinda just how life works. don't compare yourself to others, that won't do you any good.

if you're unmotivated to care for yourself, i'd recommend seeking some sort of help, like an online resource or talking to someone irl if you can.

For funsies! Draw whatever your hand and heart want to draw, even if it doesn’t look as good as you hoped for! You can alway go back and fix it up later! Just spit all ur ideas out.. that’s what I do and why I draw sm

Um, im never motivated to draw unless it is for a client, but for me to truly draw and express my emotion on paper, I find it enjoyable and comforting to just be in the moment and in a ig what you would call a zone. I dont need motivation cause I actually like drawing And genuinely feel more alive to create what ever I see fit from my imagination.
