I think this is the worst year in this forum's history

this site has just become a shitshow of poor to basically non-existent moderation. like, there's only admins here now because for some reason, all the moderators just end up leaving. and the admins are adults with jobs and things they are rarely online.
the site itself keeps having new bugs and glitches that make the site barely usable, features that broke due to glitches like post reactions have been gone months (or maybe they were removed because we as a community were naughty and misusing them, I don't really know) and i'm frankly quite disappointed by that, though once again I understand the few admin here are too busy to add back or fix broken features but months of having to bypass a censor to say sentences like "Dan from the show dan VS wears a black tee-shirt with white text reading jerk" is quite annoying.
the community itself is just not very pleasant in of itself, there's people here I enjoy seeing posts from but I think the forum's moderation issues feed into a poor community. like i'm sure a lot of people here are familiar with a user that's been DMing people weird shit and will type things like "mhmph!" and "meooow" after every sentence and and sending stuff that's genuinely not allowed but there's no moderation right now so all you can really do is block them and warn other users to do the same, and posts that contain topics we aren't allowed to discuss on here stay up for a long time or just never get taken down, like I can think of posts over a week old that shouldn't be here.
and I don't blame moderators for leaving, I really don't, this site needs a lot of work I myself am not willing to put in. and the adults paying to keep the site running need to get the money to do so, and the teenagers like me who are unemployed and in theory have more free time, end up leaving and there's not enough of them to fix the issues on the site when there is a moderator or two.
looking back at old posts, this site seemed to mostly be a tech enthusiasts forum with an older community, now it's a more generic forum with a younger user base (i'd say most users seem to be 15 and under) which isn't a bad thing, more of a netural observation. I think the site needs more staff and such than it did when it first was released though due to the demographic and general posting direction changing over the years, but as i've said pereviously, there's not enough people to keep the site running, mods leave, and admin are far too busy to handle the day to day moderation and upkeep with the site itself.

I ran my own disc server with 3 mods for almost 3 years and a lot of things happened, but I can assure you that I made sure they were handled completely and morally correctly. On this forum, it seems like they need help and more members in staff. Things don't look like they're handled great and are honestly sort of chaotic? I'm not sure.
I would volunteer for a role for staff here since I have nothing else to do, but I'm only on nintendo switch (so I wouldn't be able to do any of the technical stuff), and I would only be able to moderate general behavior at nighttime or on some nights not at all due to my parents. Not sure if I would be of much use, honestly.

While I have only been here this year and can't compare years, I do think the management has been poor.

Some of the events of this forum really remind me of a minecraft server named Alathra
It was ran by really cool people, with the owner essentially being almost 1-to-1
There was a universally hated group of people on the server, who were often banned by moderation but were ultimately still allowed to be on the server because they were really mild
There was an alternate minecraft server created, where many banned players went. It was much more toxic and horrible than the original though. Many people from alathra advertised it and encouraged their friends to join the other server, leaving alathra with very few people active. However, the other server died from toxicity and alathra revived.

To add onto the insane amount of alathra server lore:
Many people on Alathra complained about moderation not handling certain cases correctly, especially when dealing with Zydel members (the hated group). Multiple zydel players were temp banned multiple times but kept breaking the server's rules, or, for its worst members (often were not leaders of zydel), being incredibly toxic. One of the main rules they broke was the rule that every kill needed to be justified by in-lore actions, such as stealing random stuff or RP bs. Only some zydel members were perma-banned.
They ultimately were the main antagonists of the entire server throughout its lifetime, and directly stood in the way of actually having lore and being towny; especially since having any lore associated with them could be used as an excuse to suddenly exclusively pvp and war on a server not even 100% focused on pvp (tbh it was more like 33% pvp).
Then, the server rebooted for Alathra 3. I actually don't know many details about this period, since I wasn't around for most of it. But at some point, the owners of alathra decided to remove the war plugin all together in order to rework it later. Although I don't think they got to it and there were no stakes to the towns existing anymore :(
It feels like the reason for the server eventually dying out was because of the lack of wars, which were really cool and set it apart from other similar minecraft servers (seriously it felt like i was just playing normal minecraft at the end there). I dont remember the exact reason why it shut down though
