@ilovecats2018 charizard is only popular bc it was made when the fan base of similar media was mostly teenage dudes who thought a dragon was cool to fight with

What are the most overrated Pokémon? For me it’s easily lucario, charizard, gerninja, pikachu, gengar and mewtwo
None of these are bad but they have wayyyyyyy too much coverage and discussion and if you ask a casual fan their favorite you’ll probably hear one of these or a related Pokémon,it gets so boring seeing the same Pokémon constantly pushed and talked about ALLLLLLLL the time

Give me a burning hot take and I rate it@Sup3rSwaggyy1983 “male victims” “male victims” yeah obviously, nobody is denying that but if an issue mainly affects women and the perpetrators are men, it’s gonna be a push mentioning gender because it’s more excepted, this isn’t the woke progressive take you think it is bc it removes the social context of women online
-
Give me a burning hot take and I rate it@Sup3rSwaggyy1983 I’m saying that you’re stating the obvious and missing the even more obvious point that women and children are the main targets,Obv it could happen to men but it rly hasn’t,also “children” is an ungendered term so the comment was pointless

Give me a burning hot take and I rate it@misomisomiso fish for a statement or panel of him calling Noaya a misogynist or misogynistic,I haven’t seen it,it’s a fan label,it’s obviously true but doesn’t need to be said beacuse his actions clearly illustrate those ideas, point is that almost everything in a story is only implied or seen through personal interpretation so it’s disingenuous to claim that implication and not outright confirmation means it’s not cannon and most sexualities aren’t confirmed (esp for “straight”) but you interpret them as whatever sexuality based on observational skills,I get the point but it’s not articulated correctly

Give me a burning hot take and I rate it@Yanderemenhera Chris Chan one pmo so much bc I’ve heard it so often

What are your favorite Pokémon?@Ren omg I’m ac so disappointed I forgot to include garchomp bc it’s another one of my favs And me and my gf ac had a convo abt it yesterday,I was glazing all morning just to not even include it originally but I ac like Groudan’s mega a lot TwT
-
What are your favorite Pokémon?@NightmareWolfie
I never got to use Mega beedril, but I spent so much time leveling my bedril to 100 in Omega Ruby, and it still ended up being ass, that and I lost my copy of the anyway so I’m salty abt that as well
-
What are your favorite Pokémon?@NightmareWolfie You dislike Scizor’s Mega? That’s an interesting take. Do you have any particular reasons?
Also vaporeon is cool

Give me a burning hot take and I rate it@idekatp00-_ There’s nothing objectively wrong with situationships. Acting like they’re automatically bad just shows a closed-minded And immature perspective. People have plenty of valid reasons to keep something unlabeled, sometimes it fits their lives, emotions, or timing better than a traditional relationship. As long as both people are honest and comfortable with the situation, it isn’t harmful. Btiching to others for choosing a different kind of connection just doesn’t make much sense because it genuinely doesn’t affect you at all frfr

what was the most embarrassing moment that happened to you@_Izzy_ it sounds like “my Coochie’s hairy”
-
The fetishization of representation@_Izzy_ a lot of them we’re killed in the holocaust so theres def some history
-
who's your fav bns user@_Izzy_ bc she’s such a cutie pie

-
The fetishization of representation@_Izzy_ It definitely does have an effect, think of like the “JK business” where some adult men pay high school girls to hang out, go on “dates,” or do suggestive things while they’re still in their uniforms. That alone shows how the fetishization of the schoolgirl image start influencing how people treat actual children/students.
-
Favorite drinks@_Izzy_ no pookie I was joking I love water and I love you
-
The fetishization of representation@Yanderemenhera disrespectfully your comment misses the point and the “I’m ace so I don’t look at this stuff” doesn’t change the argument whatsoever

Being asexual is honestly completely irrelevant to the point being Made—You don’t have to personally consume sexualized content or straight pornography to recognize when something crosses the line into fetishization bc anyone with basic media literacy and tbh common sense can see the difference between a character being portrayed attractively and in an alluring and desirable and a character being reduced to a stereotype or sexual fantasy about their identity.
No one here said drawing characters in revealing clothing is automatically wrong(which would be obv if you read through a bit closer before replying ) That’s not the issue. The issue is when the only time people start caring about a character or interpretation is when it becomes sexualized in a way that plays into fantasies about race, sexuality, or minority identity. That’s what blind fetishization looks like, only finding a character appealing in a sexual context.
Your example about fanservice in shows is a completely different conversation. Fanservice can be annoying or excessive, sure, but that’s not the same discussion as minority identities being turned into aesthetic fantasies in fandom spaces because can servicey character can still be well written and appreciated
And the representation point you brought up is also kind of beside the argument. Nobody said representation has to perfectly match every individual person because thats completely off and also dumb to say bc of course it won’t and shouldn’t be expected to, The discussion is about how fandoms sometimes only validate certain characters or headcanons once they become sexualized, which undermines the actual appreciation of those identities or themes.
So yeah dude this isn’t about policing attraction or saying characters can’t be drawn attractively. It’s about pointing out a pattern where identities get reduced to something people want to fantasize about. That’s the distinction people keep glossing over.
Not even to be that person but I hate how asexual its portrayed bc asexuals will act like they can’t comment on sexual matters to look more valid when it just waters issues down to “you only have a problem bc you experience sexual attraction” when that's obv not the case and I find a problem with it bc it objectively is a problem
