Free speech on BDNS

Hello users, if you haven't seen, some of our users have gotten upset over apparently being censored over what they considered to be "free speech." While we would never censor a user for simply sharing an opinion, there is something very important to keep in mind.

Your opinions must be said in a way that is respectful to others. Remember that your not the only person on this site with feelings and opinions. Your opinions must be shared in a way that is mindful of that. The way you share an opinion should never be forced upon another user, because that may make them feel like they are being harassed.

But in general if you want to share an opinion, always make sure to keep both parties in mind. Especially if the topics are pertaining to lifestyles and religion. We are all different, and that is beautiful.

You have free speech, you can post anything you like even if it is against the rules. That is your decision!

Because we have rules that you agreed to when registering your account, breaking them when using your free speech rights gives us the right to restrict access or give suitable consequences for that action.

Here's my input on the situation:

Yes you have free speech and you can say whatever you want. But on here. The laws of the real world don't apply. You can't just go into a McDonald's swearing at the managers. You would get kicked out and even trespassed. Meaning you can't come back for a certain period of time. It's kind of like that on here, if you break the rules. We have the right to punish you accordingly determined on what rules you break. There will always be rules. For everything, no matter what the context is. It is your choice whether you break the rules or not

All Users CAN Have Free Speech. If They Say It In A Respectful Way. If You Can't Do That, At Certain Times. Maybe It's Best To Fix It.

what some people seem to forget is, bullying is a real thing. sometimes you might say something without the intent for harm but it is harmful, or you might say something harmful intentionally bc freedom of speach, or someone might say terrible nsfw things and clame freedom of speach too, you can say whatever you wish but you actions do affect people. if some of the terrible things that creeps said to me on y99 got exposed to the fbi the law would still punish them. words have weight and what you say will have an impact good or bad. if you got banned for bullying another user you can't just clame freedom of speach, you gotta own up to your actions and take accounttabilty

All true, some users on here have accidently made people feel uncomfortable which I have brought up to them if needed. It might not be ALL there fault however its still nice to keep in mind :)

@Almond Agreed, even free speech has its limits in most context and so I agree that users should be considerate of all parties involved while sharing opinions. Freedom of speech can be very contructive when used for sharing of opinions in constructive or otherwise harmless ways. Freedom of speech should not be used as justification for unbridled and unwarranted hate toward an individual or group as it has been misused for in the past. While you can break the rules if you so choose, this was simply my input and general(?) moral stance on the statement
