Since it’s SA awareness month I’d like to talk
About Mikan Tsumiki from Danganronpa Goobye Dispair. Mikan Tsumiki from Danganronpa is genuinely horrible SA representation and I don’t think people talk about it enough.

As a male victim of SA, watching Mikan Tsumiki be reduced to constant fan service, clumsiness, and helplessness is just uncomfortable. Her entire character is basically built on being submissive, overly sexualized, and incompetent, and it pushes this weird narrative that survivors are just… broken, dependent, and incapable of functioning.

Like… this is rly the rep sa survivors have??

Instead of actually exploring trauma in a meaningful or respectful way, her SA is basically just a plot point to justify her behavior. There’s no depth, no care—just “look at how damaged she is” while the game constantly puts her in sexualized situations for shock or humor.

And it’s not even subtle. it’s hella fetishy and weird for her to [censored] during her corny ahh execution. That alone says everything about how the game treats her character.

It ends up sexualizing survivors instead of humanizing them, which is honestly harmful. It reinforces the idea that victims are supposed to be passive, overly emotional, and easy to take advantage of.

this is why it’s embarrassing to open up

Because if this is how media portrays people like us, no one’s gonna take it seriously

Butttttttt,it’s up to people to be intelligent enough to not be scammed,if you can recognize that the marketing is the only change to a product and still choose to get it rather than the cheap alternative it’s kinda your fault

If I know an off brand Doritos has the same ingredients and quality and j choose to pay for Doritos instead bc it’s name brand,wouldn’t I be the one to blame

Discrimination towards Black people started with the Atlantic slave trade but specifically when the church started spreading propaganda to justify enslaving fellow Christian’s (this is @_Izzy_ on Johnnys phone btw)
Racism in general just kinda happened over time and discrimination towards each of individual ethnicity has it’s own individual history.

@_Izzy_ i don’t think it would be good in present alola but if they did a similar thing where it takes place in the past with less urbanization I think it could be good

I AM a male victim of assault, so if we really want to go band-for-band on this topic, I have a reason and motivation to speak on it. You can focus on women’s experiences while still acknowledging male victims. Male victims are often invalidated by OTHER MEN. It’s largely a toxic masculinity issue.

Saying that women should be able to talk about how assault affects their gender specifically—just like men sometimes talk about their own issues—shouldn’t be seen as invalidating because it’s objectively not

I can talk about how skim milk is especially hated and still talk about how whole milk is as well
