@sweetgirl I agree however you contradict yourself art is exactly that appreciation art is a form of creation something creative art isn't chained down when you look at AI art you don't feel the same way you know it's not real but you can appreciate the fact someone took time to make the prompt which some are highly detailed cause of it. Art is a act of creative activity the person who made the prompt especially if the photos original you can respect the time they put into it depending on the detail of the photo. You said art is to feel something you still feel things with AI art maybe not you specifically but others can it's not the same feeling of this person took hours to make this took him years to master Appreciation of whatever is being shown is the definition of Art. It's just how you feel when looking at it changes. You don't appreciate the AI who made it you appreciate the photo the men who built the AI so the possibility to create it is possible and you appreciate whatever site uses it whatever site pays for the AI and you appreciate the man who had to think or a original idea for the AI to physically create the photo AI art is called AI art cause it was made by AI doesn't mean when you appreciate it your appreciating the AI. Also to destroy your last bit AI art isn't shadowing everything in 2024 AI art reached it's record appreciation it's record high cost $3.2 billion in 2024 in 2022? art was 67.4 billion which is about a 2,200% cost difference it's predicted AI art will (possibly) reach 40 billion by 2033 art isn't just going to drop off recently we've seen art drop to roughly 50 billion why? A reset paintings worth 50 million nowadays? nothing not because of AI because of the end drop 2008 art dropped to record lows 20 billion the average art high back then globally was about 40 to 50 billion if they were lucky after it skyrocketed to 60 billion 2015 they had another reset and high end drop we dropped to 50 billion and after it we flew up to 64 billion right now we're having another reset which they're hoping when this ends it'll be in the 70 billion dollar industry's maybe 80 with how it's looking AI art will never compare to handmade art that is a known fact I know it my family knows it my friends know it. However I don't believe that means that AI can't make art art is a act of creativity someone had to be creative at the end of the day to make AI art whether it be whoever made the AI whoever made the site or whoever made the prompt someone had to be creative and a act of appreciation/creativeness is the textbook definition of art I understand a lot of people dislike it and that's fine I just don't think it should be considered as not art that feels to disclosed personally (Hint the word personally) Again I'm not trying to argue I genuinely like convo's like this cause I love learning and typing plus it helps me learn how to research better. :3

@bunnykek I'm bad at shortening so no I can't -w- Sorry I would if I could essentially I just gave the definition of art statistics that show AI art will never take over the real art industry but I don't believe it should be overlooked cause of miscellaneous things I mentioned (this is as short as I could make it if I add any more information it gets 20 more lines) sorry

@bunnykek I disagree but agree it doesn't steal from artists unless you tell it to and if it does then it's nothing original there's nothing to enjoy art in general AI and drawn is just lost its normality and knowingness. AI art gets just as much shadow as real art probably more which I 100% understand personally real art is better but I can enjoy AI art from time to time depending what engine was used and how good and original it actually is. It's all on point of view and how people think that doesn't make your opinion invalid nor am I trying to make you think it is

Art's a vast range of man-made creations that take time and imagination to come up with, and is made by people with skill. That includes music, drawings/paintings, writing, sculptures, you name it really. AI "art" is trained on stolen works made by people who put passion and thought into their creations as a representation of their feelings/imagination (which are used to train LLMs without any credit).
And again, AI is not a living being who puts effort into what it makes. It just copies what it's trained on, thus imo it can't be considered real art. They're moreso just cheap imitations of the things us humans make, and I'd rather just appreciate stuff made by actual people with passion than said imitations :P And no, I don't think that the prompts take any time for its users to think of, and if it does it's probably only 1 minute max or something. Which is not even close to the time real humans spend making art
Again uh this is just my opinion and I respect yours, and although I disagree with it, I know we all have different views and I'm not trying to be rude or anything

It is possible in theory to have AI models that are trained only on licensed / open source images. In that regard, there would be no "stealing" concern.
Of course, the theory is different than the practice however, and in practice big tech companies are just training on whatever image data they can get their hands on.

@BritishUnity Honestly I think that even if AI is used to make something it isn't art in anyway, it's not true and isn't made by someone with feelings, which is basically what art is, art is to feel something or a certain way and make it into something of seperate form, like song, or drawing, or writings, sculptures, anything of the sort, it's not about the appreciation for it, i can appreciate a fake christmas tree but an actual christmas tree is something that was made by the earth and decorated by someone who has a conscious or is a being with feelings. It's not about enjoying it, it's about the fact it's someone REAL who made it, AI should not be used when making any art because it can't, it can't make it by itself, it needs a prompt, someone human to guide it, only humans or something with a brain can make true art. No computer can do what our own hands can. But like you said, it's all opinion based, until it's destroying actual art.
