basically a huge chunk of true crime podcasters, i admittedly indulge myself in it, but the genera of true crime tends to be rude to the victims (if any, it depends on the case, some of it is just funny cases of people being stupid) imagine if someone ended your life and then someone was poking fun at your death and making money off of it. not to say true crime as a whole is inherently bad but a lot of people who make true crime kinda suck as humanbeings

i do personally try not to judge celebrates unless its something that is like, 100% true and i do think celebrates are held to a much higher standard than a regular person from my experience. i personally dont believe in ''canceling'' someone. usually from what i've seen cancelling someone is usually over something fucking dumb like a music artist i like was ''canceled'' because she drew her characters as southpark characters, i've seen the actual image and it was one of dumbest reasons i have seen for someone being canceled. if someone has done something really bad report them to the police, cyber bulling isnt gonna stop 'em from hurting kids. but cyber bullying a 12 year old for posting shipart you didn't like is fucking stupid.

@wobbledogs54 yes. there wasnt anything bad about it, they just did not like southpark ig. the artist makes soungs about mental illness and such but thats not what they were mad about. like asper's garden is a song about autism and honestly as an autistic person i do really like it and it does a good job at conveying autism but i understand there is a lot of people online who get mad about that stuff being offended on the behalf of the group repersented

@Yanderemenhera I think true crime is always a bit oddddd (if that’s the right word) because you’re using real death to entertain people,knowing the dangers of the world can help you be safe but that’s obv not the intention so it’s always monetizing suffering in a way

@_Izzy_ yeah i kinda get what you mean. even without “proof,” there’s been some criticism about how his content is set up. like the whole style is built around turning helping people into entertainment and that makes some of it feel less genuine and more like it’s done because it gets views like when every good deed is filmed, edited, and monetized and corporatized it’s fair for people to question the motive behind it,the challenges can feel uncomfortable to watch because they’re designed to push people into stressful situations for huge prizes which makes it feel more like spectacle than actually caring about the contestants you know? it’s not illegal or anything, just kinda gives off that weird “this is for content first, people second” vibe or Thats at least how I feel personally

so yeah, you don’t have to have receipts to feel off about it. sometimes it’s just the way something is presented that makes it feel less authentic, and that’s a valid reaction beacuse many rich people in general are kinda off
