I spent most of my time from ages 8-11 outside, I would be given scrap tee-shirt fabric that the person I was living with would use as rags, and i'd use special "knife" rocks (imagine like, stone tools) and cut the fabric into strips and then turn them into rag dolls. I would dye their dresses with dye I made from crushed plants, they were usually various shades of green.

it was nice. those were simpler times.
